Suzanne Van Wijck, MD
Suzanne van Wijck has just graduated from Medical School from the University of Leiden. She grew up in a family full of doctors, where the passion for caring for persons in the most vulnerable moments of their lives was shared at the family dinner table. This inspired her from an early age to become a doctor in order to make a difference. As a medical student, she shared her passion for medicine as an assistant teacher for anatomy and dissection classes. During a clinical internship in pediatric orthopedics in South Africa, she started her pursuit of becoming a surgeon.
This is also where her research career started, which focuses on making healthcare more accessible for everyone across the globe. She also completed elective clinical internships in General & Pediatric Surgery and Urology. In 2017, she came to Boston as an International Research Fellow to focus on Trauma Surgery research at Massachusetts General Hospital. While at MGH Suzanne started working with SurgiBox to gain input from surgeons to refine the design of the device. When she is not in the hospital, she loves to spend her time running in the outdoors. She is consistently in the top ten cross country runners of the Netherlands since 2009 year. She holds a bachelors degree in Medicine from the University of Leiden.
